One Palestinian resident and one journalist were injured in Araba town, south of the West Bank city of Jenin during clashes which erupted after the under-cover units of the Israeli army assassinated leader of the Islamic Jihad in the town. The Palestinian Maan News Agency reported that resident Ali Ahmad Jardan, 22, was shot injured in his hand by a robber-coated bullet fired by the army. Also, Mohammad Turkman, a cameraman working with Reuters was moderately injured; both were transferred to the Jenin governmental hospital. The agency added that dozens of armed fighters, members of several Palestinian factions, marched in Arraba and chanted slogans against the occupation and the assassination carried out by the Israeli army in Arraba, on Tuesday. The fighters vowed to retaliate to the assassination of leader of the Al Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, Nidal Abu Sada, 28, and his assistant Ahmad Toubasy; both are from the Jenin refugee camp. Soldiers arrested four residents in the village after breaking into a home in the town and assassinating Abu Sada. The four were identified as Azzam and Mohammad Hussam Al Shebani, ages 18 and 14, Mohammad and Wael Hosney Al Sheebani, 30 and 28. |
