WEST BANK AND GAZA: Al Nashrah Editor Shot Dead

Text of report by Palestinian radio Voice of Palestine on 2 March

Khalil al-Zabin, editor of Al-Nashrah magazine, was killed at dawn [local time] today [2 March] when gunmen opened fire as he was leaving his office in Gaza. Al-Zabin sustained two bullet wounds to the head and died immediately.

Al-Zabin worked as an adviser to President Yasir Arafat for NGO [non-government organizations] affairs and was the editor of the biweekly magazine Al-Nashrah, which is concerned with human rights issues. The Palestinian Press Association condemned this criminal attack on colleague Al-Zabin.
