President Jacques Chirac has asked PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to do all he can to help free a journalist working for French TV who was kidnapped by Palestinian gunmen. Mohamed Ouathi, who works as a sound technician for the French television station, was kidnapped Sunday night in Gaza by three armed men who forced him into a car as he walked to his hotel, other members of his TV crew said. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the kidnapping. However, Chirac called Abbas Tuesday night "to ask that he do everything possible" to bring about Ouathi's release, the president's office said. Copyright © 2005 The Associated Press.
