Lebanese LBC TV reports security developments 14 July

Lebanese LBC Sat TV at 0400 gmt on 14 July begins its coverage of the security developments and Israeli attacks against Lebanon with a detailed newscast.

LBC reports that Israeli gunboats shelled early this morning fuel tanks of Al-Jiyyah Power Generation Plant located between Beirut and Sidon.

The station adds that the Israeli bombardment targeted Dahr al-Baydar, also known as Beirut-Damascus International Road, with a number of missiles, paralysing traffic as a result.

At 0500 gmt, LBC runs the following screen caption: "The Israeli interior minister threatens to liquidate Hezbollah Secretary-General Al-Sayyid Hasan Nasrallah."

At 0412 gmt, Yazbik Wahbi, LBC correspondent, reports that many bridges came under heavy bombardment in Al-Biqa, Sawfar, Al-Mudayrij, and Dahr al-Baydar leading to their destruction.

He adds that the craters caused by the Israeli bombardment on the streets were so deep that they cut off roads linking Lebanese cities.

At 0417 gmt, LBC says that Israeli warplanes bombarded Al-Naqurah and that casualties are reported.

At 0427 gmt, Sultan Sulayman, LBC correspondent in Southern Lebanon, reports heavy mortar shelling and air raids on Al-Khayyam plains.

At 0510 gmt, LBC reports that many people are leaving the southern suburb and heading to Beirut, Al-Biqa, and northern Lebanon.

At 0600 gmt, Naharak Sa'id (Good Morning), a programme presented by Walid Abbud, discusses the Israeli military operations in Lebanon, which resulted in "killing 60 people and wounding 120 others."

At 0610 gmt, Yazbik Wahbi again reports that Israeli air raids targeted the New TV's transmission antenna in Kfar Zayd in Al-Biqa.

He adds that another raid targeted a position for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine -General Command (PFLP-GC) and mobile-phone transmission station in Hammana was shelled.

At 0658 gmt, LBC correspondent Abdu al-Hilu reports a power outage in some Lebanese areas.

At 0610 gmt, LBC reports intensive Israeli bombardment of Sidon and Al-Awwali periphery. The station adds that raids are launched on Hammana hills and Dahr al-Baydar.

At 0634 gmt, Nazih Naquzi, another LBC correspondent, reports that the Sidon coastal road was bombarded and was cut off. He adds that fire broke out in oil reservoirs and gas stations in Al-Jiyyah following an Israeli raid.

On any response from the Lebanese ground defences, he says that they were always fired at Israeli aircraft.

At 0720 gmt, LBC reports that Prime Minister Al-Sanyurah called US Secretary of State Rice on the Israeli attacks against Lebanon.

At 0734 gmt, Muna Saliba, another LBC correspondent, reports on the bombardment of Bint Jubayl, killing two people. Saliba also reports heavy air bombardment and artillery shelling of the area.

At 0742 gmt, LBC reports that Israeli gunboats are besieging Tripoli Port.

At 0751 gmt, LBC also reports that Hezbollah targeted northern Israel with five rockets.

At 0754 gmt, Muhammad Ali Ahmad, LBC correspondent in Al-Biqa, reports that Israeli aircraft dropped leaflets on Al-Biqa, warning the residents in Al-Masna to evacuate the area.

At 0800 gmt, Muhammad al-Safadi, minister of public works and transport, was interviewed by the LBC.

Al-Safadi says that the gas reservoirs in the airport were targeted. He adds: Technically speaking, airplanes can take off and land in the airport after some repairs. However, there is a political decision to shut the airport down, he notes.

As for the ships docked at seaports, we managed to secure ships loaded with ammunitions and asked the owners of ships loaded with inflammable material to evacuate them, he adds.

At 0838 gmt, LBC shows pictures of Lebanese people arriving in Beirut coming from the Southern Suburb.

At 0850 gmt, LBC also runs a caption saying that Israeli gunboats shelled the periphery of Tyre City and Al-Rashadiyah refugee camp

At 0905 gmt, LBC reports Israeli bombardment on Rafiq al-Hariri Airport runways after planes were moved.

LBC 1000 gmt, LBC ends its special programming and live coverage of the developments in Lebanon and began showing an Egyptian soap opera.
