How is your emotional health? Test yourself
Covering wars, disasters and other traumatic events can create health problems for journalists and other news media staff. They often experience or witness terrible incidents and some struggle to cope with the impact.
To assist news media professionals who suspect they might be experiencing some form of post-traumatic stress, INSI is making available an on-line self-help program that allows journalists to assess their emotional health.
It can be found at the following site: http://www.conflict-study.com/
The site is completely confidential and password protected to prevent unauthorised use. If you are an employee of a news organisation you may obtain a password either from your organisation or directly from Dr. Anthony Feinstein at antfeinstein@aol.com
If you are a freelance journalist, you can obtain a password directly from Dr. Feinstein at antfeinstein@aol.com
If subsequently you feel the need for further counselling, you can check the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma which lists therapists in some regions at http://www.dartcenter.org/resources/therapist.html
