Security forces fired the shots about one hour after a rapidly growing crowd of protesters gathered around the Sule Pagoda in the city centre, clapping their hands and singing the Myanmar national anthem, witnesses said. One man fell to the ground and was dragged away by soldiers, while protesters were seen carrying another man who couldn't walk into a car.
